It came in the dead of night, softly, slowly marking the earth. The once green lawn became a blanket of white. There is no sound, only silence. No birds of the air are singing, no geese are honking, no dogs are barking, no machine noises, no people noises. The silence tells you who is in charge. You can not stop this phenomenon, no matter how hard you try. You have no control. No political leader or group can make it stop by marches or violence. There is only one King that can control it and He is definitely in charge.
The silence gives you time to think, to meditate, to pray. It is a time to draw closer to our Maker. No one is outside their doors, no cars are on the snow-covered roads and yet, it continues to fall gracefully over the land. The silence is reverent and soft, yet to many it is deafening. Those who want to get on with life, on with doing trivial things, on with clearing their drive ways and getting in their cars and going to work or to the mall, all those hum drum things that we do each day. We are in a hurry to get back to them and then what? We complain about our job, our co-workers, our friends, our children, our class-mates and all the day-to-day stuff that we don’t like. God is offering you a safe space today, a place of silence surrounded by the beauty that His hand thoughtfully painted for you. I say to you, enjoy the silence, make use of this time to reflect upon your life and where you are going. Think about your dreams that you dreamed when you were young, think about where your life is going, think about how you can change what you are doing that you don’t like or that you know is wrong. Take this time to reflect on the important things that God has blessed you with. Take this time to reflect upon His Holy face. Do it now, before the noise returns. He has provided you with this silence. Don’t miss this opportunity to sing His praises. For HE IS LORD!
